Judge - Annette Baxter: Critique...
1st. 16 month old black brindle dog, well up on leg. Head shape and proportions good, would prefer slightly more stop and a rounder, darker eye. Well boned, would prefer more depth of brisket although this can drop with age. Good spring of rib, topline and low set tail. Strong hindquarters. Moved well on the day. Best Limit in Show

Southern Cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier Society

Judge - Duncan McAllister: Critique...

1st. Brindle male, strong head, would like a little more stop and slightly shorter muzzle. Well developed cheeks, rose ear, powerful neck on straight legs into tight feet. Good spring of rib carried well back into moderately short loin. Tail set and carried well. Short hock. Would like more strength in rear but he is only a junior. Balanced overall and moved out freely. Best Junior In Show

LOLA - Takoda Larkspur Miracle (Gpsy/Schaefer)

Lola is rocketing her way through a successful Agility career with her expert young handler Natalie Joll.

LOUIE - Takoda Wish Master (Lulu/Thomas)
Louie is being shown beautifully by Niki Nicholson and well on his way to his NZ title.

KYRA - Takoda Midnight Ivy (Gpsy/Schaefer)

Kyra is a late starter into her show career but began with a bang at her first ribbon parade taking best bitch and NZ bred on Parade.

GUINNESS - CH Takoda Master Blaster (Loki/Skyy)

CH Takoda Master Blaster (Guinness) Owned and handled by Sian Vermeer. We would like to thank Sian and her husband Hank for campaigning Guinness so professionally and representing Takoda in the South Island. We hope for a long and successful future for this pair and look forward to hearing the show results though the rest of 2014 and onward.

Guinness has now retired from the showring and is living the life of luxury in a family home at the beach!

CHEV - Takoda Black Caviar (Loki/Skyy)

Takoda Black Caviar (Chev) is owned by Emma Hodges and Karl Ranciman of Bay of Plenty.  He is a wonderful family dog who is always happiest when out and about with his human parents whether is be running round the family farm, out fishing on the boat or lazing on the couch.

Chev has now been retired from the showring and has a very full family life and a new baby brother!

Northern Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club

Lovely shaped head with correct length of muzzle and wide skull with distinct stop and good cheek muscles . Nice dark eyes. Small well placed ears with a correct bite and strong under jaw.  Nice length of neck with well placed shoulders. Good bone, nice front and well developed fore chest. Good spring of rib with a level topline. Sufficient bend of stifle. Good tail set. Good reach and drive on the move. In superb condition and handled very well. Dog to watch for the future.

ZEUS - CH Takoda Deaucalion (Loki/Skyy)

A big thank you to Teressa Didovich for campaigning and handling Takoda Deaucalion so professionally to his NZ Champion title. I'm sure there will be plenty more achievements from this boy and his progeny in the future.

FROG - The Frog Prince of Takoda (Koda/Lace)

Wee Frog came to the Southern Cross Staffordshire Bull terrier Specialty Shows with the rest of the team in July 2016.

He had a wonderful time, got lots of cuddles and was a complete showoff!

Here is the Judges Critique

Judge Mr Joe Nagel (Capstone Kennels, South Africa)

1st The Frog Prince of  Takoda / Black brindle. Has everything required at this stage, promising head, good eye and ears. Balanced and moved well for his age.

Judge Mr Thomas M Heir (Moindearq Kennels, Eire)

1. THE FROG PRINCE OF TAKODA: 4 month old – very much a baby at this stage, compact and balanced, very good head shape, good ears and set, distinct stop, dark eye, small baby teeth, good top line, movement ok.

Frog has now gone to live with his cousins Snip and Duke in Christchurch with Sharyn and Mike Wasley-Hill. He will thrive in the family atmosphere and no doubt keep the whole family on their toes with his hilarious antics.
